Most of these papers relate to the commercial transactions of Robert Waln in the East India and China trade and include some of his personal correspondence, 1799-1819; miscellaneous papers, passports, accounts, and bills, 1792-1823; insurance policies, 1810-1817; protest of loss and claim to indemnity for the ship Emila, wrecked 1811. There are papers of some literary interest, among which are the manuscripts of Robert Waln: "Horace in Philadelphia," 1813; "The Hermit in Philadelphia," 1818-1820; "Return of Regulars to Rome," 1811; notes on religion, temples, superstitions; and a list of books in the Waln house in Frankford, Philadelphia, 1818-1819.
